Run or Dye Owes Money to Charities, Photographers and You!

The run or dye scam was created by Jake Ackerman (he deleted his fb page because of us) and Mark Ackerman as a Ponzi Scheme to run events in 2013 (to gain confidence of people) and then cancel most event in 2014 and not offer refunds.

Run or Dye is a part of Viral Events and they are in the business of throwing together horribly planned events (if they don't cancel them) and they never pay anyone that they promise to pay. They get the color from companies and then refuse to pay them. They get "contracts" from the cities and then never pay them. They promise money to Charities and then don't pay them. They hire photographers for the event and then they refuse to pay them. They have shirts made for their events and then they don't pay the shirt companies. They cancel events but leave the registration links up and encourage people to sign up so they can run away with more of their money. These guys are the scum of the earth and their scam is about to come to an end.

If you or someone you know made the mistake of paying this company, please report your experience to the run or dye BBB and contact your local bank/credit card company to report fraudulent activity. Some have had success by going through active.com which is the site they use to have people pay for races. All contact info that they provide on their sites lead to nowhere. Try store@viralevents.com.

The goal of the Ackerman brothers is to "bankrupt" the Run or Dye company while walking away with 7 figures and then their debts to everyone are no longer owed. They will then start up new companies (colorfestival.com and rainbowrun.com) to do it all over again.... That is unless they are in prison.

The scammers at Viral Events/Run or Dye have started to refund some people that make a lot of noise on social media, but ONLY those people.  And they don't even refund them all the way, they charge them a cancellation fee as if they cancelled their payment. Cancellation fees are not to be charged when the company cancels the event.

Run or Dye Lawsuit

The first of many lawsuits against Run or Dye LLC and Viral Events LLC of Utah is for $14,000 and is in the Utah 4th district court to retrieve the money due per the contract they signed. Several people in CT were not paid for staffing the 5k run.

How Some People Are Getting a Refund
  • So I was able to get a refund because the Eugene, OR event was cancelled. They did not offer it and it took some leg work on my part but I figured the information should be shared. I called 1-801-810-2905 which is the number for Viral Events. Then I started trying random extensions 101 for a guy named steve, 102 for a chris carlson, 103 for mark ivans, 104 Katy Langston, 105 Joe Thomas, and 106 I finally got a person who said he was new, apparently he had not gotten the memo about not answering your phone. I said I wanted to get a refund because my event was cancelled and I would not be able to make any make up events. I got a confirmation of the refund for myself and my daughter in my email about 10 minutes later. I would suggest to everyone to go through the same process I did then maybe they will create a more user friendly way to get a refund if they cancel your event.

  • I called, spoke to 106 (which was the guy who actually was at the event I worked) on the phone, I got my money that was owed to me!! Thanks for this!!
There you have it! This probably won't work for long... The owners will find out that the employee working extension 106 is giving refunds and probably fire him so hurry and try to get your money back this way before it's too late.

They show on this page that you can get a "full refund, no questions asked"
